Just as ‘an apple a day keeps the doctor away’, ‘a bomb a day keeps Pakistanis away’.

With all the promises to deliver on his seven point agenda, our serial killer self-made President has delivered only in suicide bombings. But let us check that whether all these bombings are in truth suicide or pre-planned time bombings.

I still remember that when a suicide bomb went off in the rally of Iftikhar Chaudhary a few months ago at district courts Islamabad, all the TV channels immediately reported it as a time bomb. All the witnesses at the scene confirmed that the bomb was planted in a transformer. If I can correctly recall the bomb went off at exactly 8 p.m. However later it was declared as a suicide bombing by the government.

How that time bomb changed into a suicide bomb can be clearly understood by looking closely at a recent bomb blast at an ANP rally at Charsadda. Express news channel and Aaj news channel immediately reported it as a planted bomb. Same was confirmed by witnesses and ANP leaders. But only after 30 minutes of the blast, caretaker NWFP interior minister declared it as a suicide bombing. It was a bit suspicious as no security personnel had reached there till that time and no evidence or witness had suggested that.

My doubts about the authenticity of these suicide bombings increased on 18th October 2007 when Benazir Bhutto’s rally was attacked in Karachi. PPP and BB claimed that the attack was via a time bomb which was tied to a baby .According to BB a man carrying the baby repeatedly tried to hand over the baby to BB. She was sure that the baby was used as a tool for the blast. However our government and agencies via false propaganda ,in which they are experts, became successful in proving it a suicide bombing.

Similarly the “suicide bomb” which killed BB was also a very suspicious one as BB was first clearly shot dead by a sniper and then the bombing took place to create havoc. Another interesting thing in this regard was that the face of the suicide bomber released by the government itself changed faces two times.

A brilliant excuse our government gives for the killing of BB is that jammers are not good enough to stop a suicide bombing. I remember that when Musharraf survived a bomb blast in Rawalpindi some five years ago,the next day‘s Jang Newspaper had an article written by Ansar Abbasi that jammers in Musharraf’s limousine had saved him from death. In fact it is not that jammers can’t stop a blast, it is that the jammers provided to BB were not good enough to stop a blast.

I am not saying that every bombing is a time bombing but there are some specific time bombings which are made to look as suicide bombings. But why will government lie on this? It is very simple to understand. One advantage is that government can easily make an excuse that suicide bombings are impossible to stop and secondly they will get a clean chit even if they or their agencies are involved in the blast. It is very easy for government agencies to come up with any face and label it as the head of suicide bomber because they know the relatives of that person are not going to come forward due to fear. Moreover I am ready to bet that not many humans used as ’’suicide bombers’’ do it voluntarily.
